What Is Field Joint Coating?

Field Joint Coating (FJC) is an operation & under this two pipes have been joined together by welding. The lengths of pipe are laid down end to end, these small pipeline sections are placed in locations and then welded. These welded areas are also called field joints. There are a variety of materials available for pipeline field joint coating which includes cold applied polymeric tape, liquid epoxy, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) heat shrink sleeves used in conjunction with or without a primer, fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE), PE coatings applied on FBE, PP coatings applied on FBE, polyurethane (PUR), polychloroprene coatings, three-layer polypropylene coatings (3LPP), three-layer polyethylene coatings (3LPE), and three-layer polyolefin coatings (3LPO).
